It’s not a complicated blog post, we want to bring your our top 5 keyboard shortcuts in PowerBI.
#1 Select all occurrences of the current selection in the DAX editor
If you’ve ever found yourself needing to do a find replace in a DAX Measure, this is a God-Send. By Highlighting a word, we can select all instances of that work and overwrite or modify it.
To do this, highlight a word or phrase and use Ctrl + F2.
#2 Select next occurrence of current selection in the DAX Editor
This one is similar to #1, however its not just a blanket ‘find-replace’. By highlighting some selection, I can automatically search for and select the next instance of that selection. I use this shortcut ALL the time when I’m working on the middle of a measure.
To do this, highlight a word or phrase and use Ctrl + D
#3 Un/Comment a line in the DAX Editor
Ever wanted to quickly comment out a variable? Wish you could bring back commented code quickly? This is the easiest way.
To do this, highlight one or more lines and use Ctrl + /
#4 Jump to a matching bracket
This one is similar to #1, however its not just a blanket ‘find-replace’. By highlighting some selection, I can automatically search for and select the next instance of that selection. I use this shortcut ALL the time when I’m working on the middle of a measure.
To do this, click near a bracket and use Ctrl + Shift + \
#5 Move a visual on the canvas 10px at a time
Not everyone knows that you can use the keyboard arrows to shift a visual around, but sometimes you need to shift it FASTER! By holding shift down and using the arrow keys, you can zoom visuals around the canvas.
To do this, select a visual and hold Shift while tapping the arrow keys.
